When you first invest in diaper business, you may ask samples from different suppliers. But the quality of diapers are not as obvious as clothes, which can be tested simply by touching it. So how to check quality of diapers after receiving samples?
Breathability
Bad breathable diapers may cause rashes.
To check breathability, you need to prepare(here we use Besuper Newborn Baby Diapers to demonstrate):
1 piece of diaper
2 transparent cups
1 heater
Procedures:
1. Wrap a disposable diaper tightly on a cup with hot water, and buckle another cup on top of the diaper.
2. Heat the bottom cup for 1 minute, and check the steam in the upper cup. More steam in the upper cup, the better the breathability of the diaper.
Thickness
Some people may think that thick diapers can absorb more, but this is not the case. Especially in summer, thicker diaper will increase the risk of rashes.
Therefore, you should ask your supplier how much absorbent polymer (Eg. SAP) is added to the diaper. In general, the more absorbent polymer, the greater the absorption capacity of the diaper.
Absorption
Absorption capacity is one of the most vital factors for a diaper.
To check Absorption, you need to prepare(here we use Besuper Fantastic Colorful Baby Diapers to demonstrate):
2 or 3 different brands of diapers
600ml Blue colored water(you can use soy sauce dyed water instead)
6 pieces of filter paper
Procedures:
1. Place the 2 different brands of diapers facing up.
2. Pour 300ml blue water directly onto the center of each diaper.(The urine output of a baby is about 200-300ml one night)
3. Observe the absorption. The faster the absorption, the better.
4. Check flawback. Put 3 pieces of filter paper on the surface of each diaper for a few minutes. The less blue water absorbed on the filter paper, the better. (Even if the baby urinates overnight, the surface of the butt can be kept dry)
Comfort & Smell
Soft surface is suitable for baby’s sensitive skin, thereby it’s better to feel with it by your hands or neck to see if the diaper is soft enough.
You need to check if the elasticity of the diaper on the thighs and waist is comfortable.
Besides, odorlessness is another criteria for measuring the quality of diapers.
